Today I only questioned why I signed myself up for this trip a few times, so overall it’s been a big success.

Today I was reminded that I work with the best people ever and was surprised with a lululemon cheer squad to kick off my trip!

Leaving work in the afternoon meant I had a few extra hours to make it from Kits to mission. After saying goodbye to the lulu crew, I spent what felt like forever weaving through the city to make it to roads without stop lights. When I did make it to the highways, it was a little anticlimactic because (as it turns out), biking on the shoulder of a very busy highway is a little hectic. Not like I’ll be doing any highway cycling anytime soon!

After taking the wrong turn twice, I finally made it off of the major roads, and on to smaller, but still busy, roads. Best part about this section was that there wasn’t as many major exits off the highway, which are very stressful on a bike!

I didn’t stop much today to make sure I’d arrive at camp at a decent hour, so despite the scenery I kept on pushing. The road had rolling hills, so I was able to keep a decent pace and not get too bored with the ride. Despite trying to hustle though, I still stopped a few times because Baker was basically asking to be photographed.

Eventually (finally!) I made it to Sun Valley Trout Park, an amazing campground just outside of Mission. There aren’t any other cyclists here tonight (which I was told is rare), so Judy the campground owner said I can sleep in the rec room on the couch–this might not sound like a big deal, but it is absolutely a big deal!

Tomorrow I’m off to Hope, and the following day I’ll be facing off against the dreaded Coquihala. Time for some sleep.
